Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

5 miles nice and easy.  Wore my Mirages and my foot feels about 75% better.  I am assuming I either hit a nerve funny and irritated it or it was just the Kinvaras and the jarring of the downhill.  Either way I am glad I felt better today.

My plan for the 10k tomorrow originally was to run half marathon pace.  New plan is marathon pace.  If I feel good after the first 3 miles and have no foot pain I will reasses.  Since my hard workout for tomorrow is 6 miles at MP tempo the 10k fits right into that plan. :)  I just really feel like I need to be smart and stay healthy in these last two weeks before the marathon and considering the foot pain I had Sat racing does not really seem smart.

PM:  2 miles easy.  After a huge breakfast followed by a long nap, followed by a huge lunch and another nap I felt like the laziest person alive!  So I ran 2 miles to work up an appetite for my huge dinner. ha!  I love Sundays.

Glad the foot is feeling better. The one thing about Kinvaras (or any minimilist shoes) is that they force the muscles in your feet to do more stabilization of their own - that's good in the grand scheme of things, but it takes some time to fully adjust and build up that strength.

Just run how you feel tomorrow. If MP feels like all your foot can safely handle, do that. If you feel good and it doesn't hurt, then throw down the hammer a bit in the second half. Just stay healthy!! :-)

Smart girl! Jake always has the best advice :)

Jake- Thanks for the advice on the 10k. I definitely want to start slow and speed up if I'm feeling it. I have had a difficult time transitioning to minimalist but I know if I just keep easing into it in the long run it will work out. I am just glad I tried the shoes yesterday instead of waiting until the marathon. That pain would have been difficult to run through for an additional 10 miles.

Rachel - I am trying to be smart! I have put way too much work into UVM to watch it all unravel with doing something stupid.
