I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

10.1 miles.  Out and back from my house to the mouth of Payson canyon and back to my house.  First mile was 8:45 and last mile was 6:39.  It was another way late night last night.  My best friend is moving to Minnesota today so we stayed up way late last night talking at my parents house.  So so sad to see her go. :(  Anyway the first 5 miles were really sluggish and then I started to pick it up a bit but still kept the effort easy.  Ran the last mile fast for no apparent reason at all.

It is time to get some focus back to my training as I build for TOU.  Mainly I need to get more sleep and get off my diet of sugar!  I would never consider cutting sugar out completely but I have really been over doing it lately with all of the family parties, bbq's, vacations, ect, ect, ect.....excuses!  The bottom line is I feel like crap when I eat crap and don't get enough sleep so it is time to quit playing and start focusing. :D

PM: 2 miles barely..... I think I set a new PR for most times contemplating quiting a run in 1 mile. So incredibly windy out!  I spent more time brushing my hair after the run than I did running. :)

Nice fast mile at the end!

My diet has been pretty crappy as well...I have this new addition with ice pops and sherbet, both of which are just pure sugar :) Need to get focused!!

On of my bestest friends just moved to Minnesota too :(

I highly recommend a no sugar kick. I did it a while ago and felt awesome. It was really hard for the first week, but it was so worth it. I really need to do it again!

No sugar at all?! You're nuts! Can I just substitute it all with fake sugar or does that ruin the purpose?

From Lulu Walls on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 09:47:15 from 155.100.212.98

I am convinced that fake sugar is way worse than real sugar. So no, no fake sugar!

Were you fun to be around during this period of no sugar? :)

From Rachelle on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 09:49:03 from 199.190.170.22

I think if I went cold turkey no sugar I might have to get an IV of sugar. haha! I am just going to try and cut it in half for now. :) Or just quit hanging out with my family. My parents could start a sugar factory at their house.

no you got to gradually lose the sugar or you are like a frog in a frying pan and you just have to "jump" out of the diet. If you usually eat three treats a day cut back to 1.5 etc..then work on refined breads etc... I am working hard at it too Rachelle. We can do it! :D. Summer is all about the treats I noticed but it really hasn't helped me. Sleep is not happening--- past two nights four hours only so I know the sleepless problem you are having-- too much sun not enough darkness. like the first mile pace A LOT (and of course the last ; D).

Yeah, I have to work on everything right now. The sleep thing is a little out of my control, but the sugar thing ugh! I live for jelly beans and nibs :) And I'm pretty sure they make me happy so I wouldn't be very fun to be around if I cut sugar our completely for sure! Nice run this morning Rachelle!!

You girls are making me laugh!!! Kudos to all of you who can cut out sugar. Does that include natural sugars found in fruit, etc. as well? Man ... you girls are hard-core!!!!

No way I could do it. But I have watched others do it and they seem to thrive. :)
