Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

12.5 around the Orchards with the birthday girls Amber & Jen.  Jen & I wanted some tempo miles and planned 2-3 x 2 miles.  First set was 6:30, 6:23, 1 mile steady with amber and then 6:24.  We both kind of felt like we were forcing the pace so we pulled the plug on the workout.  I'm coming off a hard race Sat and a trail run yesterday so this was good enough and I'm glad I didn't push through because I may have been digging myself into a hole.  Amber needed 15 miles for the day so since I had extra time I ran with her until she hit her 15.

Smart Rachelle, you are so fit no reason to kill yourself for one workout!

nice job. it was still a great workout, in addition to getting some good miles in.

I actually feel a lot better reading this post. I felt terrible during my workout this morning, and had to cut it short. I'm glad to see that there are others who have less than stellar days, and that it's okay to "pull the plug" when it's not happening.

Em - yes absolutely! The old Rachelle would have either A pushed through the workout or B beat herself up about scratching the workout. But if I've learned anything in the past year of running it's that it's completely normal and okay to have off days. The hard part is being in tune with your body enough and having the confidence to pull the plug. I like to remind myself that no one ever won a medal for PR'ing in a training run. :)
