Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

25 minutes weights.  worked triceps and core

7.25 miles running, 8 minute pace, 1-1.5% incline.  This felt harder than it should.  I am kind of having an "off" week with my running.  But I know this is normal and I'm not going to let it get me down.  Just got to keep on keeping on.

I set an insane goal of running 3,000 miles in 2012.  I know this is somewhat overarching but I think I can do it and look forward to more easy miles and fun runs. :)

PM:  2 miles with the pup.  It is seriously too nice outside to be true.

"Off" weeks are no fun! Just keep the miles easy and you'll get out of it - don't be afraid to go slower! You've had some great workouts recently.

I think that is a big, but definitely achievable goal.

Here is a favorite blog post of mine (I actually have it printed and it hangs on our fridge):

The last paragraph, about slowing down and enjoying it, is especially pertinent, and in my opinion is what gets lost sometimes when people increase their mileage.

Awesome article Jake! This is just what I needed. I could not agree more about taking it easy and enjoying it more. I really need to work on this in 2012. I do fine running slower with friends but when I'm by myself I have a tendency to get way to competitive with myself. So stupid but I think it is common among beginning runners and I am working on it.

Rachelle its something that everyone does... it took me almost 10 years to figure out how to just let myself run easy! I think its harder when you are on a schedule (ie. have to get to work) or are on a treadmill (you want to get it over with) to let yourself start super easy. As long as you don't get competitive with yourself on too many days, you'll be good :-)
