Last chance progressive tempo workout before the half on Saturday.  I think I needed more of a confidence boost than anything.  The capability to run sub-7 pace for 13 miles I believe is there but I just need to believe in myself.  2mi warmup and then I started the workout. 6:59, 6:42, 6:35, 6:25.  This felt hard but that 6:25 mile is 35 seconds faster than the pace I want to maintain on Saturday so I think I can do it.

Pushups/planks at home.

Back to the daily grind today after 5 days off of work.

PM:  Came home in such a bad mood.  Work drama, finals week in school, and my dam cable has been out since last Wednesday...so frustrating!  I hate to admit this but I am freaking addicted to cable.  Anyway the point of my ranting on the internet is that jogging 2 miles completely changed my mood.  Thank goodness for running!

What half are you doing? I think you are more than golden for you sub seven pace!!

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:37:56 from 155.100.226.54

I hope that gave you the confidence boost you were looking for!!! You realize the last 5K of that tempo was just a hair over 20 minutes. That's moving! :-)

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:39:02 from 155.100.226.54

That does look like a tougher course... its all on dirt? They have some pretty fantastic prize $$$... its tempting to come down and hope no one else shows up :-)

From Rachelle on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:44:52 from 159.212.71.25

haha the 5k really does suck so bad but it was my first ever so I secretly love it. I do not think it is all on dirt but the last 3.1 mi definitely is.

This is Rachelle's "secret" race so you better not rain on my parade Jake. haha jk you can come but you better not bring Andrea. :-)

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:49:42 from 155.100.226.54

I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend... but I know I'll be mad at myself if I see someone wins that first prize running a 1:15 or something like that :-0

Chances are I'll probably just end up doing another Jeremy Ranch cow roundup, but we'll see

From Rob on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:59:06 from 206.71.84.68

Well not now that you just let it out of the bag.

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 10:59:37 from 155.100.226.54

we need to stop talking about this in a public forum! :-)

i am 50/50 on TdR... maybe 20/80. Andrea is probably not running so I don't feel like spending the whole day on Saturday waiting around for a 3rd race...

From Jake K on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 11:23:53 from 155.100.226.54

delete the whole entry rachelle :-) don't let anyone know how good of shape you are in!

From Rob on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 11:27:39 from 206.71.84.68

I'd go but I'm allergic to lavender.

Plus it took me years to get all the lavender out of my flowerbeds, that last thing I want is to win a pot of it.

From Bonnie on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 11:54:48 from 184.63.70.104

Just keep thinking how nice that $$ is going to feel Rachelle, I am sure you are going to be getting used to it! Sounds like a "fun" course -- strength (which you have) will get you far -- so just keep up the tough mindset. GOOD LUCK!

From RAD on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 12:28:19 from 98.202.23.178

No luck needed, you can totally nail that race and take home not only money, but a big pot of lavendar to take to Rob :) Nice work this morning Rachelle!

From JulieC on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 13:36:08 from 70.56.110.75

Rob are you serious?? I am allergic to Lavendar as well--- it gives me a headache and I feel like I could fall asleep FOREVER. No wonder they put lavendar in baby lotions with a picture of a baby sleeping on them!! Rachelle, YOU are going to take this!! :D.

From JulieC on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 13:37:03 from 70.56.110.75

hey nobody has erased their comments to this TOP secret event!!

From Hamdog Alum on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 15:24:54 from 71.90.5.18

Solid workout, should be a good confidence booster!

From NatalieK on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 16:23:45 from 24.2.101.184

I agree with everyone else. You're gonna rock it. You can totally do a sub 7 min mile for 13.1! Get ready for the finisher's podium!

From Rob on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 16:47:31 from 204.15.86.95

Julie, I'm not really allergic to it, but I think it's funny they are giving out plants that most gardeners concider weeds.

From Ericka on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 17:14:42 from 71.195.209.128

Nice! Good luck on Saturday.

From Bec on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 18:15:31 from 71.199.9.12

In the bag, I mean the $. I am pretty sure my mom and I are coming down to join in on the festivities. I will see you at the finish as you collect your dough. :)

Looks like a horrible course. I have always wanted to that race and my mom is stoked to walk the 5k for some reason, bless her heart. Who could say no to her?

Anyway, great pace this morning. Go for it on Saturday! FULL OUT.

From Rachelle on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 19:37:19 from 66.7.127.115

Becca I am so excited you are going to be there. :) People really do get so excited for it and I always wonder why? haha how awesome that your Mom is walking it though. Are you going to run the 5k or just coming to watch? Either way I am so happy I get to see you again. :)

From Brooke on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 22:26:52 from 70.56.96.96

Haha, I love your blog ! Are you related to Holly Wardle in Bountiful? I forget her husband's name.

From Christie on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 12:24:04 from 74.213.202.246

So I am sitting here at lunch stalking your past training:) Look at this tempo compared to the tempo you did last weekend during along run. Is that not crazy improvement especially still being in winter?! Amazing things to come this year for you

From JulieC on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 13:29:44 from 70.196.196.212

Yes christie...your comment came up pn my phone....since o cpmmented on this last year....rachelle is a machine right now. So cool to see ot all pay off...building aerobic base..lots of doubles.....and voila running with the elites on pace work! She os gonna kill ot saturday :) no ifs or buts there. Go rachelle!!!

From Rachelle on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 13:40:19 from 199.190.170.28

Christie & Julie - thanks for the flashback. I'd like to say to both of you that I think a lot of my improvement comes down to confidence and believing I am capable of running faster. I used to be very afraid of running under 7 min miles but had to get over my fear. Both of you are incredibly awesome runners that I admire and have learned a lot from. No limits ladies!

From Carina on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 15:18:58 from 204.15.86.83

Rachelle_ You have done amazing! Will you coach me ;) I feel like I've hit a plateau and I'm too scared of failure. I think I'd rather not try than try and fail :(

From Rachelle on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 15:41:05 from 199.190.170.28

Carina - don't be silly! You are one of those girls I completely admire and always look to for motivation and inspiration. It's embarassing to admit how many times I read your Boston and UVM reports from 2011 before I ran those races last year. You don't need a coach, what you need is confidence in your ability. You ran a marathon in 3:06 right after having a baby! Seriously the sky is the limit for you and I believe great things are instore this year. (now you just need to believe in you.)

From Carina on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 18:39:51 from 204.15.86.83

You are so sweet Rachelle, one of the best cheerleaders on the blog. And always so positive and encouraging!! You are amazing, I totally admire you too :)
