My body has been incredibly good to me the first half of 2012 and after two hard weekends in a row I made the choice to give my body a much deserved break and not race this race.  This was hard for me because I love this course and I absolutely love downhill running but I knew it was the smart thing to do.  It has also been a very crazy and stressful couple of days.  My parents were evacuated from their house and were staying with me and our dogs were stuck in the house alone for 10+ hours until the police finally let us in to get them.  Lots of chaos.  I didn't eat dinner until 9:30 and didn't get to bed until midnight.  with less than 3 hours of sleep and all things considered I was in no condition to race.

Fortunetely I had a good friend who asked me to pace him and this worked out perfectly because I could not change my mind last minute.  He was hoping for 1:35 and we finished in 1:37.  Still a 30 second PR for him and he overcame a mental battle in the last 3 miles and finished really strong.  It was such a fun day seeing so many familiar faces and so many awesome PR's!!  Huge shout out to Rachel who set a 6 minute PR!!  My friend Holly that finished 4th overall in 1:25, and several others who tore it up this morning.

After I finished I ran back and was able to walk the last mile of the 5k with one of my employees who just lost her husband.  It was really neat to see her face light up as she crossed the finish line.

After that I ran back for my friend Julia who had the dreaded job of pacing 2:30.  I was able to help some of the people with her run in faster than 2:30 and it was very humbling and a lot of fun.  The good thing about today is I am not sore at all and it proved to me that I am in even better shape than I thought.  The 7:20 pace felt way easy and I am looking forward to one more week off and then some awesome training to get ready for my next race!

I'm so glad your friend was able to get that PR and Holly took 5th overall didn't she? That was a $ spot!! How awesome! That was a wonderful morning and I was excited to see you and share my good news afterward.

I hope your parents have been able to get back into their homes. Those firefighters worked VERY hard overnight and the fire looked SO much better from AF this morning.

Rachel, she took fourth!! Keri Hatch, 49, came in fifth. Never saw her except the starting line looking VERY serious and ME with my ace bandage wondering if I should put it on or hold on to it. stupid me. I should have run with Rachelle!! :D. How is your parents' home now???

1:37 is just an easy walk in the park for you now! Hope your parents house is OK
