Leg #2:  3:15am 6 miles, 7:05-7:09 pace? I don't remember.  I enjoyed this leg more than the first but I just literally have no real speed or desire to breathe hard which is unfortunately necessary when trying to run under 7:45 pace for me.

6:00am? 5 miles with Heather, 8:30ish pace.  Fun run in the sunrise!  50 pushups afterwards.  Just watched the video of that and wow my pushup form is absolutely awful.

Leg #3:  12:45pm 5 miles, 7:09 pace?  I don't remember.  It was 82 degrees, I took a 5 hour energy prerun and felt pretty good running.:)  My legs were shot but I felt like I was on crack and was talking to all the runners, drunks, taxicab drivers, ect.  All was well.

Not that anyone cares but I'll just note this for anyone who does and for my memory.  This was the most awful Ragnar in the history of ever.  The course was completely retarded.  We literally just looped up and down the same vegas streets for 200 miles.  Logistics were awful and there was tons of construction.  I averaged 3 major stoplights per leg and there were not cops/volunteers patroling. Dangerous!  No food at exchanges or even at the end?  What the heck majorly dissapointed and literally cannot believe people pay for that crap.

That said my team is fun and we always have a good time!

Nice job Rachelle! I was runner #7 as well. The first leg definitely made me hate my life, so I'm glad I wasn't alone. I'm envious of your pace on that stretch! Heat/hills are the death of me. I'm guessing you ran a bit later than I did, but I got passed by quite a few fast women, so it's possible you may have killed me :)

I thought organization was a bit better this year, but it seems like logistics for Vegas have traditionally sucked. Not having people at the major intersections was definitely problematic - in fact my team reported to me that a runner just ahead of me almost got hit by a car. The finish line was quite a disaster too.

My perception has always been that the locals aren't especially Ragnar-friendly. Definitely doesn't have the community feel that Ragnar WB does. Lots of stink-eyes from people and aggression from motorists.

Hi Kevin! Yes I was fortunate and I did not start this leg until almost 6pm. It was much cooler...thank goodness because I cannot imagine it being any worse.

I hope my comments do not come off as completely negative. In all honesty I think I'm just really burnt out on Ragnar in general. This was my 5th time doing Vegas and the course is just so boring and seems to get worse every year. But I'll probably keep running it every year because it is just so much fun! I hope you had a good time and kicked some booty out there. I also hope you got a tan.:):)

I think your comments were spot-on. I'd probably be bored with Vegas after the 5th go-round as well. ;) It seems like a hard one to make exciting unless you parade everyone down the strip, which adds a whole other logistical nightmare.

I compare Ragnar to getting back together with an ex-significant other....you know it's probably not a good idea, but you do it anyway. It's a short and exciting trip, but leaves you a broken mess and wondering what on earth you were ever thinking. Then you do it all over again a few months later! :)

I have always thought these Ragnars are a rip off, and am baffled that people pay this much money to run them. But I'm glad you didn't have to pay and had fun.

i too cannot understand why people are willing to pay so much for these events. it's too bad that they are so huge and out of control now, because i think the concept is cool. but it seems their whole point is to maximize entries and race locations, rather than really focus on the runner experience.

anyway, good job and i'm glad you had a good time.

Never tried tried 5 hour energy (or crack).. Seems like the middle of a Ragnar would be the time for it. :)
