I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

I am super happy with my performance today.  I did not really have any goals in mind but knew I wanted to get a good realistic gage for where my fitness is at.  This is a very honest 10K course in my opinion and I think I ran a really good race.  I started conservatively and ran about 30-35 seconds behind Jen and Sylvia slowly gaining on them each mile.  I caught and passed Jen with about a half mile to go and just did not speed up soon enough to catch Sylvia and she finished 9 seconds ahead of me.  She is a SUU runner who just graduated and it was really fun to meet her.

6:26, 6:10, 6:08, 6:08, 6:15, 6:07, 5:46 for .2 - I ran smart, had fun, and felt great!

I really love these small town races because I know so many people running and it is just fun and more laid back.  I ran back for my sister and she ran a new 10K PR...woohoo!  Also very excited to hear how well everyone did at Des News....I feel like I missed the official Utah Olympics!

Time to hit the track and take this short distance training serious.  I'm stoked about it!

Nice race Rachelle! I think it's a great course too and very honest. Was it Sylvia Bedford? If so, her Dad was my CC coach in high school and he is still a beast to this day :).

Great splits, look at that killer last mile wow! I am going to try and follow your example for smart pacing at my next 10k. This is great on an honest course!

Way to keep to your race plan and not get sucked into the speedy start. You ran very smart. Great job!

Brandon - Yes! Such a small world...my Dad taught her in HS and I grew up with her older sisters. She is just jumping into road racing post college and will do great.

April - the 5:46 was just for .2...I updated that.

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words and continued support.

BTW, did you end up dressing like a cowgirl? I hope so. Spanish Fork is my alma mater, you would have made them all so proud:)

Solid race. Keeping that first mile under control really paid off - you were able to keep it very consistent the rest of the way.

Keep running these 5/10Ks... you're really learning to run them well!
