Weights - shoulders, biceps, upper body. 45 min
1 hour run down to the river trail and then back up to the gym, 7:53 pace. Second day in a row running by myself....so boring! I'm pacing 1:35 at the Hobbler Half tomorrow. I honestly hope I can hang! My speed is basically nonexistent at this point.
Great article by Runners Connect yesterday. I love the 4 takeaways and really needed to hear #1 especially since I've had a really crappy running year.
1. Accept the ebb and flow of your running career
"It is extremely rare to have a running career in which every year boasts improvement."
2. Accept the decrease in speed that comes with aging
3. Focus on your own hard work rather than anyone else’s race results
4. Be Brave
“courage is not the absence of fear, but the realization that something else is more important than that fear”.
So, take joy in the struggle and the sacrifice it takes to be a runner. It’s part of what makes this sport so wonderful.
