Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

3 mile warmup.  I was feeling good so I decided why not try and run fast for a couple of miles just to see where my legs are at....6:56, 6:40, 6:30.  It felt really good to just throw this workout in on the fly and feel good doing it.  I think Sea Level in Seattle was really good to me because my breathing felt a little off but my legs felt strong.  Jogged back to my house 2.3 miles.

Awesome article about the benefits of running for stress and anxiety relief.  I could not agree more.  http://camilleherron.com/2012/07/21/5-benefits-of-running-on-stress-and-anxiety/  It is so incredibly interesting to me how stressed I was all the time before I started running.

PM:  2.5 miles easy on the treadmill...whoa that was weird!  25 minutes weights at the gym.

Any updates / improvements on the burning feet?

From Rachelle on Thu, Jul 26, 2012 at 11:17:22 from 199.190.170.22

It is really really weird and only happens when I am running hard for 1+ hour. As long as I run easy it does not bother me and it did not bother me today with the short tempo. I think I land harder when I run fast and it is the constant pounding (mostly uphill/downhill running) that creates it. I've done a little bit of research and my best guess is Metatarsalgia. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/metatarsalgia/DS00496/

Hmmmm I think that's what Andrea was struggling with over the winter. In her case though, it was made a lot worse by cold weather... going to Brazil cured her. So, guess you need to go somewhere tropical. Doctor's orders!!!

Thats probably the best solution...

You might want to try lacing your shoes differently, if you are having problems with the forefoot particularly. I lace mine similar to this, although I only skip one hole instead of two - http://www.altrazerodrop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaticContentView?langId=-1&storeId=15151&catalogId=18952&pageTitle=Alternate+Lacing&pageName=AlternateLacing

By the way, great job on the Seattle Ragnar! Sounds like you had a really fun time and really got to experience the weather there :)

Thanks so much Andrea I will definitely try that. I actually have really wide feet and that may be contributing to the problem.

Good article that you posted there, by the way :-)

Excellent run and wonderful article!!! I started running about 7 years ago when the stress of having 5 young children about did me in. Running not only saved me but I am convinced that it also empowered me. Honestly. Halfway to my doctorate and I truly believe that running got me here! My undergrad degree is history. It was my passion for running that made me go back to school and get the pre-reqs to apply for the physical therapy program done and then take the big plunge!!! Long live the running Gods/Goddesses!
