Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

brrrrr it is cold and dark in the morning and I don't like it!  5.5 miles running around in circles by my house.  My right hamstring is so tight it is ridiculous.  It will not loosen up no matter what I do.  It is like there is a huge knot that needs to be worked out.  I have never had a massage in my life but I am seriously conisdering it if this doesn't work its self out by next week.

PM:  1.5 miles at the gym, 20 minutes weights

You could visit a chiropractor or physical therapist and get some electro-stimulation on that hammie.

do you have a "stick"? foam roller? tennis ball? rolling pin? i would get in there and dig it out right away. you will know when you find the spot -- dig deep and get lots of pressure on it and you will be able to bring it to the surface. it will leave a nice red mark, possibly even a bruise for a day or two, but it's worth getting it out now before it gets any tighter. good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys! I have a foam roller and have been rolling it out daily but I will be sure to spend some quality time with the foam roller tonight and see if I can get it worked out. It is driving me cra cra crazy!!

Tennis ball.... try that.

Oh massage! Do it! I can tolerate someone else inflicting the pain to work it out, but the tennis ball I turn pansy with :) So, I guess it depends on whether you have the time and/or money for a massage or a tennis ball. They will both do the same thing - if you have a good massage therapist that is.

Rachelle, if you need a good sports massage. I have a suggestion. I hope it gets better!
